What the Seller Says!  2 Brockman Drive, Charleston SC in Creek Point on James Island

The Great Things About my Property from the Sellers' Perspective

What do I love about Charleston, SC?

I have lived in Charleston since 1981! It is a wonderful place! There are so many activities available in Charleston – from wandering around the plantations, to enjoying the water parks, to going to the beach, to having dinner on a sunset cruise, to shopping downtown and taking advantage of all the great restaurants! There is such a variety of things to do!

Why is my neighborhood a great place to live and why is its location perfect?

I bought this lot in 1982. There was only one house on Brockman Drive at that time. My house went up in the summer of 1983. I moved in August 3, 1983. Shortly thereafter there were lots and lots of houses going up in the neighborhood. Some of the folks that moved in that long ago still live here. It is a safe neighborhood located conveniently close to Folly Beach and the James Island County Park. If you have elementary-aged children, they would attend Harbor View Elementary School which is an award winning, blue ribbon school! It is an animal-friendly neighborhood. I enjoy visiting with my neighbors as we walk our dogs in the morning and in the afternoon. It is a friendly place to live. It is not far off of Folly Road, but yet it feels like you are away from the congestion and noise of the city. The lot is in the city of Charleston, so there is trash pick-up and recycling pick-up. I have great neighbors, and will truly miss this neighborhood and the safe, quiet environment that I have enjoyed for over thirty years.

What drew me to purchase this home?

The original house was around 1640 square feet. It was a perfect starter home for me and my family. In 1991, around 1800 square feet were added to the house. It has been wonderful to have such a large home so close to the beach. I have lots of friends and family that visit all during the year. During the holidays when the entire family comes to town, there is room for everyone to sleep and enjoy being together.

What are my favorite local restaurants?

I love Mondo’s, which is so very close to me! I enjoy eating at Athens – best calamari anywhere!! Smokey Oak is an enjoyable place to eat and enjoy visiting with friends. I am close to Zaxby’s and Chick fa le too! This next week Dunkin Donuts will have their pumpkin spice latte!! If ever I want to go to a restaurant downtown it is only the connector away! I love to eat on the Folly pier at Locklear’s too! This is just a few minutes away! On Saturday mornings, I love to eat at the Bagel CafĂ© near Publix and read the paper or work a crossword puzzle!

What are my favorite local places to shop?

There is a plethora of grocery stores on James Island. Did you know that we have FOUR Harris Teeters? There is one conveniently located near the end of the connector that I use. Publix is just down Folly Road from the connector. There is a Bi-Lo at the back entrance to Rivers Point which backs up to my neighborhood, Creek Point! I can always find an open store when I need something! Wal-mart is just down Folly Road from my house. And there is a Wal-greens less than a mile from the house! Downtown shopping is only minutes away! The drive to Towne Center in Mt. Pleasant or to the Tanger Outlets in the North Area is only about thirty minutes! I am around twenty minutes from Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods in Mt. Pleasant. There is an Earth Fare on Folly Road at South Windermere just before getting to James Island. Citadel Mall is about a twenty-minute drive from my house!

What are our favorite nearby activities including arts, attractions and activities?

Folly beach is about five miles from the house and always fun! The James Island County park, which has a dog park, a giant play area, and a water part is less than two miles from the house. The aquarium is downtown and can be enjoyed after a fifteen-minute trip there. When visitors come to see me, we can choose to drive West Ashley to one of the beautiful plantations in a matter for minutes. Downtown museums and events are easy and quick to get to. I am close to the Gaillard Auditorium and not too far from the North Charleston Coloseum!

What are the best features and upgrades of my home?

I love my home! It is spacious with tons of storage. One feature that I so enjoy is the huge master suite upstairs. Whenever I have company, I can go upstairs and hear nothing! I feel like I still have my privacy with a houseful of people! I love the sunroom for reading a book while sipping on some good coffee. I was self-employed for over twenty years. I had plenty of space for a great office with a large storage closet for my business. I find my home comfortable. As I mentioned above, 1800 square feet was added to the house in 1991, along with an oversized two-car garage. I love the extra space and storage. In 2009, the kitchen and the downstairs master bath were gutted for renovation. The garden tub and stand-up shower were removed to make room for a very large shower with a rain shower head and a hand-held shower wand. Granite countertops and tile were added in both of the downstairs bathrooms. The kitchen has new cabinets with granite countertops and a beautiful tile floor. All new stainless steel appliances were added to the “new” kitchen. The entire first floor received a fresh coat of paint as well. I also purchased an extra 10 feet of property at the back of the lot to make the backyard a little bigger. I think it is the perfect yard for an in-ground pool.
